Family Code

1. Family Code
 
 
Note:
Family Code is the number allocated to the Family of whom the Guardian is usually the head.
 
Thus, note must be taken that Family Code may be different from Account Number (previous point above), but is under normal circumstances the same.
 
Tip:
When deciding on an Family Code for a Family, it has been Edupac's legacy rule of thumb to create the number as follows:
 
1.     Family Number starts with 3.
2.     Next four characters are the first 4 letters of the family's surname.
3.     Last two characters are 01, 02 etc.
4.     Example: The third family that is created with the surname Smith will get Family Code 3SMIT03.
 
Note:
The naming convention in the tip above is only a guideline. The format of an account number is a free format and may be any combination of characters.
 
 
The Short Code is a Unique field (). Should the user enter a Short Code that already exists the system will display the following message:

Display Name

2. Display Name
 
 
The Display Name is a Required field ().  The user needs to enter a Description for the Family. Should the user not enter a Display Name and attempts to Save () the information the system will give an indication  () that this is compulsory information.

External Code

The External Code is a Free-Field Code that allows Unique Identification when comparing this collection of records to another collection.
Primarily used for Import or Export.
The External Code is not required

Save / Cancel

4. Save / Cancel
 
When all information has been entered the Family is saved by Left Clicking on the Save Button (). Should the user want to Cancel the Add Action, Left Click on the Cancel Button ().
